I hope everyone who celebrates has had a lovely Christmas-- and if you don't, I hope you had a lovely day anyway! Can you believe 2012 is almost over? I can't believe the ONE THING to not survive the apocalypse was Twinkies. RIP Hostess. I guess all good things must come to an end.
I've had a very nice Christmas this year, spent with family, friends, too many animals (as always), and waaaaay too much food. I also got a lot of great gifts-- a new messenger bag, Doolittle by the Pixies on vinyl, new headphones, pajama pants, and enough books that by the time next December rolls around, I probably won't be through them all. Right now I've got my new headphones on, switching between listening to music and watching A Christmas Story on TBS while answering long overdue emails, and typing this post. I also have a bag of chocolate covered pretzels next to me, so, you know. George Bailey got it right: It's a pretty wonderful life.
Here is something awesome going on: So you all know about the partnership between Speechless and Love is Louder, right? If not, I'll fill you in. Love is Louder is a fantastic anti-bullying organization founded by Brittany Snow and the Jed Foundation. It's all about providing resources to teens dealing with bullying (among other subjects affecting teenagers today), and I've been so thrilled to affiliate with them through Harlequin Teen to help raise awareness, since Speechless tackles a lot of those same issues.
To help raise money for Love is Louder and in recognition of anti-bullying month, a bunch of celebrities have autographed my books to auction off. You can read more about it and a link to the auction here, but among them are Brittany Snow, Kevin McHale, Khloe Kardashian, Kellen Lutz, Tori Spelling, Rumor Willis, and Mayim Bialik. Awesome, right???????? I still haven't recovered from that time Brittany Snow made a video about Speechless, so you should've seen my face when I read the list of who they got to sign!
All in all, 2012 hasn't been bad to me at all. I've been really happy with the reception of Speechless-- I've heard a lot lately from readers, and that excites me more than anything. All that said, I'm ready for 2013. I'm hoping for more exciting updates for you all and just good things in general.
I hope you all had a great year, and an even better one next. Now I've got some chocolate pretzels calling my name, so I'll talk to you later!
